BF wins nod of ‘tambays’

FORMER Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Bayani Fernando got the support of the Ang Tao Muna At Bayan Partylist (A TAMBAY) in his bid to run for vice president in next year’s elections.
In a meeting with party members held in Malolos, Bulacan, recently, the A TAMBAY Partylist which seeks to represent in Congress the millions of unemployed and underemployed Filipinos, and OFWs, formally pitched its “unwavering support” behind Fernando.
The A TAMBAY, recently accredited by the Comelec to join the 2010 election for partylists, said the country “needs somebody like Bayani Fernando who has the vision and determination to instill in every Filipino the value of discipline which is the key to realize a strong nation.”
“Kami ay naniniwala na isang lider na katulad ni Bayani Fernando ang kailangan ngayon ng bansa, isang lider na determinadong isaayos ang bayan sa pamamagitan ng disiplina at may paniniwala sa kakayahan ng bawat Pilipinong baguhin at hinangin ang kanyang sariling galing para sa isang mas magandang kinabukasan,” said OFW Congressman Omar Fajardo, current secretary-general of the A Tambay Partylist.
According to data, more than eight million Filipinos today have no jobs and not less than six million Filipinos are underemployed or working less than four hours a day. Data also show that many Filipinos or more than 40 million Filipinos survive on less than a dollar a day.
“Iyan ang nasa talaan, pero naniniwala kami na higit pa diyan ang totoong numero, saksi tayo sa pahirap na buhay ng mga Pilipino, kaya matindi ang pangangailangan nating makapagluklok ng mga lider na may paninindigan, determinasyon at malasakit sa bansa na katulad ni Bayani Fernando,” Fajardo added.
